Choosing a Tuition Centre in Sector 12, Noida: 7 Questions to Ask First
Every tuition centre in Noida will tell you the same three things. Experienced faculty. Small batches. Excellent results.
The words are free, so they are on every board in every sector.
Here are seven questions that get past them. Ask on the phone, before you visit. Our own answers are under each one, so you can hold us to the same standard.
1. How many students in a batch, and what if it fills up?
The number matters less than the second half of the question. Ask if the number is fixed, or if it grows when new students arrive during the year.
Us: fifteen. When a batch is full we close it. We would rather ask a parent to wait for the next session than change what the other fourteen paid for.
2. Who will actually teach my child, and will they still be there in March?
At bigger centres, the teacher who takes your demo class is often not the teacher your child gets. Teachers also leave mid-year. A student who adjusted to one teacher in July and gets another in December has lost months.
Us: Ruchi ma’am. M.Sc. (Mathematics), B.Ed., 13 years of teaching. The same person every day, all year. There is nobody else to hand you to.
3. Can I see the actual marks, with names?
“Excellent results” is not information. “Ankit, 99 out of 100 in Class 10 maths, 2023” is. Ask for specifics and see what comes back.
Ours are on the results page, with names and years. We show Maths and Science marks only, because those are the subjects we teach. We do not show overall percentages, since that would take credit for English and Social Science taught somewhere else.
4. Do you have branches?
More branches means more teachers, more variation between them, and less chance that the person who started the centre ever looks at your child’s work.
Us: one room, Sector 12, near Mother Dairy. No branches, and none planned.
5. Can my child sit in a real class before we pay?
A demo class arranged specially for a visiting parent tells you how the centre performs for visitors. A seat in a normal running batch tells you how it performs on an ordinary Tuesday.
Us: a full week, in a real batch, free. You pay nothing until that week is over.
6. How often are the tests, and do parents see the results?
A test only at the end of the term comes too late. By then the weak chapter has already cost marks. Ask how often the tests are held, and whether you get the marks even when they are poor.
Us: a test every week. We share the result with parents honestly, even when the marks are low.
7. What do you do when a child is already behind?
An honest answer involves going backwards. Be careful with anyone who says they will simply finish the syllabus faster.
Us: we do not promise marks, and nobody honest can. Tell us where your child is stuck, and we will tell you straight if the batch can help.
One last thing, about distance
Parents often pick the nearest centre, and that is fair. A tired child who has travelled forty minutes will not learn much.
But do not choose on distance alone. Ten minutes further, for a teacher who knows your child’s particular weakness, is a better deal than a five-minute walk to a crowded batch.
